Fall from Lace: Coco launches Rococo

As previously reported, Canadian supermodel Coco Rocha had been in a search for the perfect name for her upcoming fashion line and it appears that she has! With reference to the ornate artistic period and her namesake, Rocha has named her collection, Rococo. Clever and cute. She debuted the first piece from her line while co-hosting the Grammy red carpet with ET Canada. The sapphire blue and gold silk 18th century inspired dress had a peek-a-boo gold skirt and definitely stood out on the runway. Look forward to see what the dancing model has coming up next!

BEDO meet Denis

Montreal fashion designer, Denis Gagnon is set to launch an affordable clothing for BEDO. Known for his use of leather and monochromatic looks, it will be nice to know that more people will be able to get a hold of his designers. It's also very nice to see a Canadian designer gaining more support from retailers.

Brotherly Love: DSquared shows their Olympic Spirit

In honour of the Vancouver 2010 Olympics fashion's design duo, DSquared has designed the costumes for the opening and closing Olympic ceremonies. So those outfits you saw last night? All Dean and Dan. On top of that, they have created a limited edition edition Olympic hooded sweater at Holt Renfrew. Fashion meets the world of athletics, what better way to show support for your Canadian athletes this year?

Launch My Line Launches into Canadian Territory

The latest fashion design reality show competition to hit the airwaves, Launch My Line is now airing in Canada on TVTropolis. Formerly only available to our southern neighbors the exciting show is free for the viewing of Canucks nationwide.

Tune into Channel 54 on Mondays at 10pm to see who beats out the competition and hear Dean and Dan speak Italian.

Canadian Fashion is hitting the American Airwaves

Canadian twin design duo, DSquared seem to be very busy as of late. First, they were honoured by Canada's Walk of Fame earlier this month, they made an appearance at Ryerson University, launched a highly anticipated eyewear collection and are now hitting the small screen!

"Launch My Line" is the latest reality show based on fashion to hit popular American channel, BravoTV. The show will follow 10 accomplished fashion designers paired with a public figure who has a desire to enter the world of fashion design. The teams will face various challenges and the celebrity who is able to successfully climb the fashion ladder will get the chance to debut their very own fashion line! Not too shabby. DSquared will serve as hosts for the fashion meets pop culture competition. Good job boys!

Canadian favourite, the celebrity-inspired television series "Look-A-Like" is now airing on Wednesdays at 8pm on the American TV Guide Network channel. Titled, I'm a Celebrity Look-A-Like for its American viewers, the show will have the same favourites such as, Paul Venoit on make-up, Jeff Altenburg on hair and Alissia Marciano on fashion styling. 

It is nice to see that Canada's cherished fashionista's are receiving well-deserved recognition south of the border. If you happen to be in the States, don't forget to check out your fashionable Canucks on the telly!

Amanda's Fashion Spotting.......

On an afternoon stroll yesterday in Yorkville, I saw none other than the Canadian design duo, DSquared! 

Chatting and laughing, they walked down Yorkville Avenue looking chic as ever wearing rolled up jeans, loafers, a crisp white shirt and to-die-for blazers. Boy can these guys dress!

Dean and Dan are in town to accept their Canadian Walk of Fame honour, pay a visit to Ryerson's fashion program and am I sure catch a TIFF movie or two.

Canada's Walk of Fame Honours the Fashionably Elite

                     This September 13th, 2009 Canada's Walk of Fame in partnership with CanWest, inducts Canadian twin fashion duo, Dean and Dan Caten of DSquared and Sex and the City sexpot Kim Cattrall.

Canada's Walk of Fame is a non-profit organization that strives to celebrate Canada's home grown talent, inspire new generations of Canadian talent and basically, as they like to say, "knock people's socks off". Previous inductees include, Flare Magazine cover girl Daria Werbowy, the fashionable chameleon and exotic beauty, Linda Evangelista and Keifer Sutherland. 

Tune to Global Television on September 13th, 2009 to watch the lovable fashion designer guys of DSquared and scantily-clad, Kim Cattrall get inducted.

HAPPY CANADA DAY!!!! Celebrate your country's birthday in style

Many people find wearing your country's colours to be a little tacky or corny but personally I find it lots of fun! I love the holidays and any excuse to have fun with fashion (don't get me started on Hallowe'en). Today is Canada Day and I thought what better way to show this amazing country some love than wearing it's colours. Ready on for some helpful tips to wave your patriotic flag with style!

Checkmate!

I find the best way to mix to solid colours, is to do it with a print. Gingham is great because it is classic, vintage-looking and a fresh alternative to plaid. Just look at the fitted button-up from H&M towards the top of the article or full skirted Michael Kors Spring 2009 dress to the right. These are both great ways to incorporate a little patriotic style at the barbeque.

Flower Power

If you plan on spending your Canada Day by the pool, why not try wearing a floral printed bathing suit? The vintage red and white style of the Jessica Simpson Collection swimsuit above, looks great with a large white sun hat or red pashmina to cozy up while watching the fireworks.

Luckily, Canada Day is right at the cusp of the summer, which means you have more options to wear different types of clothing. For example, you can pair white pants with a vertical striped blouse or like the photo above, cute white shorts with a gingham button-up.

The best way not to look like your great Aunt Joyce from the retirement home, is to never, ever wear the following items: a gigantic tent like t-shirt with a large red maple leaf (believe me, this is flattering for no one) and maple leaf monogrammed anything. Also, don't wear shorts with a top, hat and shoes whilst carrying a Canadian flag that all say Canada at once. Like any trend, it is important to have balance with strategically placed colours, prints and a good 'ole maple leaf. Take a look at the DSquared maple leaf high heels.
